The UNSC Navy is the largest and arguably most important branch of the UNSC. The Navy operates under NAVCOM, rather than UNICOM like the other three branches. The Navy is responsible for space and sea-based operations. Unfortunately, the UNSC's naval technology is primitive in comparison to that of the Covenant, and for this reason UNSC Naval victories are rare, almost always only occuring when UNSC ships outnumber Covenant ships at least 3 to 1, and even then heavy casualties are usually still taken, usually at least 1/3 of their ships are lost in these space battles. The UNSC Navy much like the UNSC Marine corps ensured that most human colonies were not lost without a fight. This caused heavy losses for the UNSC Navy
