The MJOLNIR Reconnaissance armor, or Recon armor, was designed at ONI's Ordnance Testing Facility B5D in Western Australia, alongside the MJOLNIR Scout Armor. It was given stealth capabilities by reducing its infrared signature, reflective surfaces, and Cherenkov radiation emission. This Armour Type is in the Elephant And Versus High Ground. A black one was included in the Elephant, and a blue one was included in the Versus High Ground.
Trivia
- A black version of this figure is included in the Elephant set that was released in fall of 2011.
- This is the first black figure.
- Dare from Halo 3: ODST wears a recon helmet, though it specially designed for use by ODSTs.
- Recon is arguably the hardest armor to unlock in Halo 3 (other than "Bungie armor", an EOD chest which produces flames around the wearer's head, and is only given to current Bungie employees, with the exception of voice actor Nathan Fillion). To unlock Recon in Halo 3 one must unlock 7 acheivements in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST called the "Vidmaster Challenges", then download the armor through their bungie.net profile. And prior to the release of Halo 3: ODST, Recon could only be received by winning it in a contest or competition, or by doing something Bungie deemed worthy of merit. Early rumors also said that you had to suicide by a sniper rifle ricochet.
- The armour is the main focus of several Machinimas such as Arby 'n' the Chief and the phrase "I can haz Rec0n?" has become a popular internet meme.
