The Designated Marksman Rifle was a selective fire rifle capable of semi-automatic and fully automatic fire (though in the games only the semi-automatic mode is usable). The M392 DMR saw widespread use by all branches of the UNSC military during the Insurrection and early Human-Covenant War, but was eventually replaced by the BR55 series battle rifles in all branches except the Army. After the war, the DMR was reintroduced into all branches alongside the battle rifle in the form of the M395 DMR.
The Mega Bloks DMR is based on the M395 featured in Halo 4, which was a descendant of the M392 featured in Halo: Reach.
